mail vs can log in and retreive new messages but cannot retreive previously played messages

If you log into a voicemail box when there are no new messages, does the system say something like "You have 3 old messages"?

If not, what does it say

asks for x andpassword says you have 2 new and 2 old messages for new messages press 0 and plays new messages then says for old messages press 0 but will not play

Try re-initializing the mailbox and see if that clears the problem.

It should be asking you to press 2 to play messages, then the header plays, then it asks you to press 0 to listen.

Sometimes it somehow records itself, and when you hear a system message asking you to press something, it is actually a recording.

Try listening to the message, and deleting it with *3, and see what the next message is. Continue to the end of the messages.

thanks i really appreciate your input on this i did reinitialize the mailboxes and that did the trick .I also noticed that in two mailboxes i could play all old messages but the first in each mailbox . and once i deleted the second and third message it wouldn't let me play the first message again really appreciate your input

well its back after reinitializing mailbox everything was fine then today same symptoms cannot play old messages and when they deleted new message it deleted them all should i reset system or just try to reinitialize mailboxes again any help is greatly appreciated
