Hi, I just swapped out a VS rel.1 module. Is there a way to completely clear existing programing and resoire the module to the factory defaults? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi davemitt,
Once you log in as administrator and get to the administration level, dial 989 25327. That should reset everything to factory default.

Thanks for the respone. Will that reset the VSMail only or will it clear the programming out of the Partner systems as wel?

Hi davemitt,
If you want to default the Partner Processor (ACS), just pull the batteries and power down the system. You can then save this to the backup card. Voila! Defaulted system.

Thanks for the responses. The system is a Partner II Rel 3.1 not an ACS - if I needed to, how could I factory default the procesor?

Hi davemitt,
Remove the processor card from the carrier, open the clamshell case by poping the small plastic tabs back gently with a small flat blade screwdriver. Once the cover is apart and you can see the PCB, look for the battery. It looks like the type used on old computers, 3.6V Nicad with three legs. There is a small hook and spring lever, seperate them. At this point, if the card is over five years past it's last battery change, you may want to change the battery. Reconnect the lever / hook and reassemble the processor card. Reinstal the card in the carrier and start programming, it's been defaulted.

From system programming (for the phone system) do a #98925327

Other than replacing the battery WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT TO DEFAULT THE PROCESSOR??? GEEEZE.

Just do #989CLEAR (98925327). You can use this with both the processor and the voice messaging.

Hi Hal,
Davemitt may have a processor old enough to have a marginal battery. It's not an ACS series and it's better to replace the battery now than to reprogram it twice.
In the event that the battery was recently changed, I agree with you.

Chris
your first post dosen't mention the phone system. that's why I did ;)

You are right in the fact that while you have the systm at a defaulted state anyway to do a new nicad. and during the process it will default.

Hi Don,
Sorry, you are correct. I thought you were referring to the vm portion as I had that on my mind. And yup, you pointed out why I recommended th battery change rather than the software reset.
Thanks,
-Chris
