I'm doing an upgrade on a Partner phone system and can't get the Partner Mail VS Release 4.1 to work. The upgrade is a Partner ACS release 5 with 2 additional modules; for a total of 8 lines. System works fine when the Mail isn't installed, but if the Mail is installed in the 4th slot of the 5 slot carrier, when the phone rings the automated attendant answers on 2 lines at once and transfers to the receptionist console immediately (like, half a ring).
I can't access the mail system via the 777 on the intercom line.
The Mail worked before the upgrade. I've assigned the correct extensions to the mail system. I managed to call Avaya (for free!!), and they felt the hardware was defective; but my installer says he installed them before and it's not the hardware, it's my programming.
Any help or clues would be appreciated.

The symptoms you have described indicate that you don't have all the voice mail ports in hunt group 7.

If you have an ACS in the center slot, and 308's in slot 1 and 2, and the Voice Mail in slot 3 (Which is the 4th slot, the center slot is the "P" slot), the ports would be 36-39 for a 4-port VM, and 38-39 for a 2-port VM.

If any of your modules are NOT 308's but 206's or 400's, then the Voice Mail extension numbers would be lowered by 2 for each module of this type.

Thanks.
The modules are 308's, and I assigned extensions 38 and 39 to group 7.
My next try is to call extensions 38 and 39 and see what happens.
I don't know which is worse, me being stumped by this or my sister-in-law not being able to get her server to recognize the cable modem... :(

Well, they weren't 308 modules, they were 206's.
Assigned VM to extensions 34 and 35, now it works.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I gotta do the programming since it went from 4 lines/5 extensions to 6 lines/12 extensions.......
