I'm having trouble understanding the definitions in the manual for creating a submenu for Partner Mail R3 standalone. Can someone walk me through it?

Here's example of what I need
3. press 3 for sales
1. sales manager
2. purchases

Please complete the example below

to Create submenu enter 4
enter submenus number ?
enter selector code ?
now what?

Thank you in advance

its really a simple system to program

once you get in it will prompt you through what you need

if you need a manual click on the FAQ's at the top of the page for a link to the avaya site whee you can download one

I don't see the function of these forums to tell someone step by step how to do our job if its beyond your skill set I suggest you call in someone qualified

Menus and submens ARE simple. I've been a telephone tech for over 25 years and I've done this on many other system but not on the standalone Partner Mail.I'm a professional and am not looking for for a free install I just need some help.
In other systems you get a prompt after the menu code-3 in this instance using the example I showed above. I'm not seeing the word "menu" or how to tie in the submenu to the menu selector code. Terminology, I believe.

I just posted this on the other board where you asked your question:

Can you write an example of the entries under 3?
3. press 3 for parking and directions
1. parking
2. directions

OK, Submenu 3 will have selector code 1 point to announcement 1, and selector code 2 point to announcement 2, while the Auto Attendant's selector code 3 will point to Submenu 3.

First, you need to create the Announcements, before you can point the selector codes in Submenu 3 to them.

Then you need to create Submenu 3 before you can point a selector code in the Automated Attendant to it.

So, you're logged into System Administration, 3 for Auto Attendants, the AA number (1-4), then 4 for Announcements. 1# for Announcement No. 1, 9 to record it, wait for the beep, record it, press 1 to end, *# to approve. I think you're still at the Announcement level at this point, so 2# for Announcement No. 2, 9 to record, beep, speak, 1, *#. *# again to back up, now it's 3 for Submenus. Next it's 4 to create a new submenu, 3# for Submenu No. 3, 1 for Selector Code 1, 3 for Announcement, 1# for Announcement No. 1, 2 for Selector No. 2, 3 for Announcement, 2# for Announcement No. 2, *# to end selector code modifications, wait for the prompt and beep to record Submenu No. 3, 1 at the end, *# to approve.

I assume you already know how to set Selector Code 3 in the Auto Attendant to point to Submenu 3, but remember that Submenu 3 must exist before you can do that, and the Announcements must be recorded before you can point the Submenu to the Announcements.

Thanks Tommy! I see now that I was referring to 3 as a "main menu" number, not a "submenu". I had most all the other steps ok. Thanks for taking the time! to explain. Sometimes it's just one thing that can make all the difference.

BTW, I did have the manual. This manual differs from most Avaya/Lucent/ATT manuals in that it does not give an example. ("Submenu number" could have been 1 digit or 2 digits, designated or arbitrary).Nor does it elaborate in detail;Even logging in was different from most Partner voicemails using 2 passwords, back-to-back with a password different than usual Partner passwords.

Thanks for the assist.
