I have setup an external Partner Mail R1.8 on a Partner + R4
I have programmed #505 with the 2 extensions, and the other necessary programming but the machine doesn't answer with the Auto Attd greeting I recorded. Instead she answers, "Your call is being transfered to the receptionist"
What have I missed? Thanks for any help its been a few years since I worked on Partners.

Check that you have the right vms ports and only the vms ports assigned to hunt group 7. If they are wrong it will cause what you are hearing.

telprog: I am using a 2 port mail. Does it matter which ext ports in the 206 card I use? I have them in the 2nd and 3rd.
Must they be in specific ext ports?
Thanks Ming0120

The 2nd and 3rd will do just fine, The rule is you can't put them into the first port of any 206 card or to any power failure transfer extension. Did you double check to see that you were counting your ports right and that only those 2 ports are in hunt group 7?

telprog: Yes, there are only 2 ports and I used ext 29 & 30 that I assigned to group 7. Can I use a Partner mail on a Partner Plus switch? These are the settings:
#505 7 exts 29 &30
#306 29 to 10/30 to 10
#206 7 lines 01/03/05 assigned
#506 delayed answer
#310 assigned to all exts
#507 always
#301 has the 3 lines on 29 & 30
I can use the voiceml button and access the mail to administer it and program but when you call the main number she doesn't respond with the Auto Attd day greeting.??
Note: It has a vs mail in slot 4 but it was disabled so I could set this one up. I deprogrammed the vs.

Sounds like you have it right on the money, If you not using the VS you should remove it from the cabinet. What happens when you intercom 29 and 30 by themselves?

Um, when you "deprogrammed" the VS mail, did you remove the lines assigned to it as well as removing it from hunt group 7? It could very well be the VS mail answering your incoming calls instead of the Partner mail.

There is most defiantly something wrong in your programming. You may want to look at what Tommy has suggested on the VS programming side.

Guys,
I will double check the programming tomorrow. The VS does have an Autoattd greeting as well but that isn't whats playing. Let me check that programming. The reason I didn't want to remove the vs mail was the extension range will change and I am using ext 28 and 33 now. Hopefully I can leave it in the machine deprogrammed and it won't interfere with the Mail. Will give you a heads up tomorrow, Thanks

Even though the VS has an auto attendant greeting programmed, you've taken it out of hunt group 7. Now the lines ring, and of course the VS mail answers. But the calls aren't being filtered through group 7, so they don't come with "mode-codes", which is a string of touch tone digits as soon as the call is answered. These mode codes tell the voice mail what the purpose of the call is, and what to do with it; ie, logging in to check voice mail, transferring to a mailbox, answer with the auto attendant, etc. When there are no mode codes, it will pause for a moment, announce "Transferring call to the Operator", and transfer to Ext. 10. This is exactly what you are describing.

Also, you can create "guest" mailboxes that have the same extension number as the voice mail ports on VS mail, but NOT on the external Partner mail. When the message waiting light comes on, the voice cards in the Partner Mail interpet it as an incoming call, and it will try to answer, get no mode codes, and do a false transfer to ext. 10.

if I remove the lines on ext 26 and 27 on the vs mail will that correct the problem?

Eureka! The auto attd finally answers but I can't turn the touchtone gate off!!! Any ideas? I go to 3 Auto Attd then 6 touchtone gate, it just tells me its on and won't let me turn it off??! Thanks for your help guys!!!ming

Should be 3 then 5 then 9 for ON or 6 for OFF then *# to return to System Admin menu

telprog: I followed the flow chart exactly but when I press 3 then 5 the mail tells me "the touchtone gate is on" and when I press 6 to deactivate it she doesn't change to off?
Its the strangest thing. Is there something special I have to do to get that gate off? Cause its not listening to me!
Ming

The only thing I can think of is if you are using Fax Call Handeling the the gate will be set to On and can't be changed.
To check go into Admin Main menu and then 1 for System Parameters then 4 for the Fax extension, you can deactivate it by press 0 then #. Then * # to go back to Admin menu.

That's it!!!!You guys are the best hope I can return the favor. My 38 years with Lucent should count for something altho I haven't touched the Partner in 10 years.
Mny thanks!!
