I keep getting a busy signal when i try dialing into my VM (int 777). Also the message light seems to be on my system 10 extension. I had it all working until i had to replace the processer module. I cant seem to get into the VM now. Is there some programming that I am missing??? Thanks.

Neal.

Check to make sure that the correct ports for the voicemail are in Hunt Group 7.

If they are, and you still get the busy signal when you direct-select those ports, the voicemail's hard drive may have failed.

I'm assuming that the voicemail system is either an Avaya Partner Messaging, Partner Mail VS or a Partner Mail. Those systems use a hard drive to store messages and such.

If the voicemail is Partner Voice Messaging, then something else is wrong.

How do i check to make sure the correct ports are in hunt group 7??

"Check to make sure that the correct ports for the voicemail are in Hunt Group 7."

The ports that should be assigned to Hunt Group 7 are determined by a few things.

1) Which voicemail system is being used.
2) How many ports does the voicemail system support (2,4,6)
3) The number, type are arrangement of the modules being used in the system.

The 3rd line should have said number, type AND arrangement. [purpleface]

I dont really want to use the voicemail. i had it setup as an automated attendant at our motel. The attendant picks up the phone automatically on the first ring for all incoming calls, and says "your call is being transfered to the receptionist." I had it setup to pickup on the fourth ring, and with my personal greeting.

My first slots have 206eR3.1 modules in it.
The second is 206eR3.0
the third has the processor module r4.0
the fourth is 206eR3.1
and last is the partner mail VSR1

Thanks for all the help so far.

Here is a link to Avaya's website. The link goes to the Partner Mail VS R5 manual. Check out pages 37 of 274 as well as 200 -> 204 of 274.

These will give you an idea of how to figure out how to calculate the ports to put into Hunt Group 7 if you have a Partner Mail VS.

If you can list the modules in your system, how they are placed in the carrier as well as the Partner ACS's revision (R1 through R7), I can you out.

Ok...I see the arrangement. Lets crunch the numbers.

Page 202 of 274 has the arrangement for your system. Ports 40 & 41 go into Hunt Group 7.

You can check this by pressing the left Intercom button and then either 40 or 41. See if the auto attendant answers.

Just curious,

When you replaced the Partner ACS processor, did have the most current configuration of the system on the backup PC card and program the new processor from it?

no. i had to reprogram the whole thing from scratch. I dont have a backup pc card. I dont even know how to use that feature [sadeyes] or knew that it was there.

Oh dear.... On the front of the old processor, there are 2 slots for cards. Was there anything in either slot?

Ok.

Wow Neil,

It might be worthwhile to purchase a backup & restore card so that a working configuration can be saved and transfered between processors should the need arise. [smile]

At this point, I might suspect that the voicemail has gone bad since when you try to access the ports, the auto attendant does not respond properly. The Partner Mail VS R1 is a very old system so it may be on its last leg.

You might want to consult a local vendor who is familiar with the Partner ACS system. They can get a backup card for you and verify your programming. [smile]

So if i had one of these backup cards, could you configure the entire system with a laptop pcmcia slot?

could i purchase this and scrap the partner mail VSR1 from my system?? EBAy

Hi Neil,

With the PC card, you could transfer a known good configuration from a processor that has gone "toes-up" to a replacement processor as long as the replacement processor is the same revision. After the program has been transfered, you would be up & running.

The card on eBay is a backup card for the Partner Mail VS system. It will not work if you try to use it with the Partner ACS processor.

If you want a basic auto attendant with a few voicemails, this might be a better fit.

The card slides right into one of the slots of the Partner ACS processor, can process 2 calls and has 16 mailboxes.
