Partner II Voice Mail - cuts off greeting

We are using a Partner II system with a 4 port Voice Mail system. We can record and play back user greetings such as "You have reached Bob. I am not available today. Please leave a message or contact my secretary Sue." The message records and will playback fine.

The installation manual says that the greeting can be up to 2 minutes.

However, when we transfer a call to voice mail all you hear is about the first 3 words - maybe 5 seconds. I cannot find a setting anywhere to alter the default that is supposed to be 2 minutes.

We have powered down both the voice mail and the entire phone system. Nothing seems to fix the truncation issue.

What voicemail is it?

We all need a little help once in awhile. Tony the Phoneman..

Are you recording in the"Name"slot or the personal greeting, sounds like your in the wrong place for personal greeting

The main phone system is comprised of 206E modules mainly R3.1 but there is one R4.1 The voice mail module is a separate rather large metal box (almost looks like a PC) that says AT&T Partner Mail. The box has a tag that says R1.9

So far I have powered it down twice with no resolution. I have re-recorded the voice mail greeting and confirmed that the entire greeting will playback through the system while logged in to administer the account. I have logged out of the system and logged back in to play back the greeting to confirm that it is being recorded and it is there as it should be. I have also deleted the mailbox and recreated it. I have also checked to make sure I was playing the greeting and not the user's name.

The problem is noticed whenever an outside call is transferred to voice mail. The listener hears about the first 3 words and then it stops.

I have looked through our system manuals and although they say that the system should have a 2 minute greeting capacity per voice mailbox and this seems to be in compliance, the playback for an incoming caller is cutting off. Perhaps it is the 206 card and not the voicemail system? It does not appear that the 2 minute can be reset or altered by programming from station 10.

Thanks for the quick responses and I hope that someone knows of a solution.

VM greetings and personal greetings are factory set at 2 min's, name is set at 4 seconds, the only thing you can change with the COS is the length of the incoming message.
What happens to the call after it was xfer'd to a mail box, does it get cut off after the few words or can they leave a message?
What happens when you call an ext locally do you get the full recording??

Thank you for the questions.

When I call in from outside, I here the truncated greeting, then the tone and I can talk and talk and talk (about 2 minutes). The message waiting light then comes on the extension where the message was directed when it is played back, it is all there.

Same experience when transferring a call internally. I can leave a long message and it is played back correctly.

Well, we have continued to look for the solution to this problem.

When a user records their name, such as "George Smith", it takes the recording and seems to take the entire name as long as you are in the maintenance mode. However, when a caller is transfered to that extension to leave a voice mail, all they hear is something like "George Sm" it seems to be about 1 and certainly less than 2 seconds. It happens with all extensions so I assume its something in the voice mail module (a large external box that looks like an older computer actually) and not any of the Partner cards.

I know that setting is not programmable (or at least I cannot find it) from the administrator's manual but is it something that can be programmed by connecting to the voice mail system through the RS232 port or by remote maintenance?

If you don't have experience with this problem is there are technical support center that you would recommend?
