In regards to the Avaya Partner Systems Euro Phones:
The question has come up as to the use of the Auxillary port. In the past we have placed answering machines on the port of a phone for customers who did not require a VM but wanted to get unanswered calls. In this application the theory is, any line that is programmed to ring at that ext. will be answered by the answering machine in the event that it is not answered by the owner of the phone. My question is, if a cordless analog set is plugged into the AUX port would it have the same capabilities as well as be able to answer internal calls or even use feature codes? Something to ponder i guess.

Thanks,

when you plug into the aux port , you are duplicating the station to a single line set , you have acess to all internal And features , my only suggestion is program your phone to pick up intercom first , so when you use your cordless you have acess to call internally to someone in the office, dial 9 to get and place and outside call , use features to pick up calls on hold, flash to transfer attch an headset & enjoy the freedom

Hey, thanks alot. Good info. May the Phone gods smile upon you!

The aux jack on the bottom of the phone is the same as using a bridging adapter at the wall jack- T/R are connected to your single line device. You can use a single line phone but be aware that anything beyond simply making and receiving calls is a real PITA. Yeah, you have access to many of the system features but try to use them.

You can go off hook with the single line phone then use the keypad on the system phone to dial, select lines, auto dial etc. as you normally would. This can work with a cordless if someone is normally at their desk and needs to walk around during the conversation.

Any of you remember the GPAs (general purpose adapter) on the classic merlin systems?? The AUX port is basically the same thing, except no bulky extra box is required.
