Partner ACS R8/PMVS R5 3

hey all- I have a customer with ACS R8, Partner Mail VS R5, they put the console on DND at lunch- the calls come in, hit 0 to leave a message, and get locked up in a loop- your call is being transferred to the receptionist- keeps repeating, no drop to mailbox. verified if calling inside to '0", goes to mailbox, but interaction of R8 and PMVS R5 with do not disturb invoked, gets locked up. If DND if off, works fine, but rings 5 times, with audible, which they don't want. Any ideas? Thanks much, in advance.
 
The R5 PMVS needs to have a patch applied to correct a DND issue when it is installed with an R7 or R8 processor. Check for the patch. If the patch isn't there, either try to secure a copy of it...or...replace the voicemail with either a patched R5...or...an Avaya Partner Messaging R7.

Try setting the vms coverage rings to 1, adding a vms coverage button to the set, checking the transfer return extension setting for each voicemail port to point to itself, and transfer return rings set to 5.

This should let you turn vms coverage off during the day and have 5 rings before mailbox 10 answers a call transferred by the auto attendant, but only 1 ring when vms. coverage is turned on.
 
Thanks all, especially for the prompt replies! I had a itch in the back of my mind there was an issue with the R8- my back files are in chaos, so I really appreciate the people with this information at hand. I will give the customer the option to upgrade to a Messaging, but will try TTT's suggestion to see if it is a viable work-around. Exmogger- you're correct, it is not a .21 version,and Dexman- the fast response was awesome. Thanks to all.
