I have a Partner ACS R7 with VM PC card Release 3 I have 6 POTS lines being answered by an auto attendant. The limit of calls in the voice mail system is 2. Every once in a while every phone will ring (8) 1 time and then nothing. I look at the display lites and then I see that the auto attendant picked it up. Can someone tell me why this is happening? Is the VM system filled up causing all phones to ring?
Thanks

That voice mail is not really made for the auto attendant to answer all the time.It can only handle 2 calls (2 calls,2people checking mail, or any combo of either) at a time like you said. That means if 3 calls are coming in, the AA will answer the first 2 and the third would ring until one of the first calls are transfered. Also if one or two people are checking their messages AA will not answer the call until one of the ports are available.

Try changing your AA voice prompt recording. Whatever is the most common selection, mention it first. The second most, next, and so on. It really can make a difference. Keep the AA voice prompt short.

"Thank you for calling XYZ, if you know your parties ext please dial it now. For the operator press zero."
Do not use Selector codes unless you do not tell the caller about them, so only employees will use them. That will get employees out sooner.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

Another thing you can do is program line ringing off or delayed on as many extensions as you want. that way you will only hear the ring at those extensions that are suposed to ring if VM is busy.
Keep in mind it takes VM up to 5 seconds to release port when a caller hangs up.
