Newbie here,

A club that I belong to has a Partner ACS R3 system installed. Single telco line, with 3 extensions. I would like to configure the unit to use the page port output to feed a Bogen GS series amplifier. When I put the ACS unit in it was set to factory defaults, then the date / time were set. That is about it.

What I am looking for are the needed steps to configure the system or a good sight to access the manuals. I have an understanding of how the ACS is connected to the extensions but not sure how to configure the page port. The Bogen has an input for phone, that uses 2 or 3 wires.

Can anyone offer suggestions? Can I download software and do the configuration from a PC? Any and all comments are welcome!

Thanks in advance!
Jeff

The page port is not configurable on the Partner. Press Intercom 70 for loudspeaker page which sends the signal out the page port. Press Intercom *71 for paging through the amplifier and the phones at the same time. You may need a page pal between the partner and the bogen amplifier though.

Use a modular line cord from the Page Port, Green and Red go to the screw terminals on the rear panel marked MIC5/TEL and the slide switch goes to TEL. The input is voice activated, so you don't have to do anything with the Black or Yellow from the line cord.

The manual for the amp is here
Intercom 70 is Loudspeaker page.
Intercom *70 is simultaneous page, but it won't work until you add phones to Calling Group No. 1

Thanks for the quick responses!

OK, that may have been part of my problem. I was only using a 2wire connection from the page port, but if the black / yellow are not connected at the bogen does it really matter if it is a 2wire or 4wire connection?

I guess that I should have asked a more basic question. When the unit is first installed, what needs to be configured on the ACS unit? It sounds like I may not have done what was needed in the begining.

* Install the unit
* Connect the extensions
* Connect the CO lines
* Set the date / time
* Configure for automatic configuration backups

I was then able to pick up the 3 extension phones and get the outside line.

I have also read in the forum where I can take a hand receiver and plug it into the page port to make sure that there is output. Is this a true statement or do I need to get a butt set for testing?

Thanks for the help!

So, after looking at the Bogen manual link that you provided, there are 3 screws for input on the MIC5/TEL. The center screw appears to be a ground, so the red / green wires should go to the outside connectors correct?

Green and Red to the outside screw terminals, nothing at all to configure on the ACS, since it's a Release 3. Intercom 70 will send audio out of the dedicated Page port. A butt set on Monitor would be able to hear the page out of the page port.

Thank you all for the guidance. I got hold of a butt set, plugged it into the page port on the ACS and was able to hear the page.

I then used an old line cord and ran that to the amplifier using the red / green wires and now we have a paging system. In order to use I*70 I then added all of the extensions into calling group 1.

Follow-up question. Depending on what extension I try to page from sometimes I get the 'page tone' attention getter and other times I do not. Is this something to program? I did not find it in the manual.

Thanks Again!
