hey guys..

I've got a Partner ACS R1 and a Partner Mail R3 (the big external one), setup in my lab right now.

One thing I've noticed is that the PM R3 is NOT triggering the MWI on the phones. I can see it go off-hook on port 4 after I leave a message.

I know that port (ext 17) is part of my Hunt Group 7, because I can dial it and get my "Welcome to Partner Mail".. That also means the port is active, and WORKING..

Any issues that I should know about? I don't know how to manually trigger the MWI's on a Partner system, so I haven't done that yet..

Thanks for any help you can give!

Message Light ON is Feature 09-XX, or #09-XX on a single line phone. Message Light OFF is Feature 10-XX, or #10-XX.

Grab a butt set and a T-adapter, and monitor the 4th port of the Partner Mail. Listen for it to set the MW lights, and see what it happening.

Maybe plug a display phone in the port, and the connect the VM port to the AUX jack on the phone, so you can see what it is dialing.

Note that when the extension port is put in Hunt Group 7, the Auto Line Select will change to Intercom First, and the Intercom Dial Tone will change to an "outside" dial tone. Sure confused me the first time I needed to troubleshoot one of these.

I can confirm that even when I do F09-xx, I still don't get my WMI's to light, on two seperate phones!

So what on earth could be causing that?? Is there stuff that fails inside these ACS R1's that could cause that particular issue?

Hi Joel,
Make sure that the higest vm port is connected to the highest port # programmed in hunt group 7. Partners use the last VM port for house keeping. You can check by connecting your butt set to the last vm port and leaving a message with another phone on an extension. In a short time you should hear the port go off hook and send a series of DTMF tones.

Yes, port 4 on the voicemail is connected to ext #17.

I'll have to attach my test set later, next time I'm in the lab. I can watch it go offhook on the voice card (red light), but I never see the green light blink (light it's generating tones).

exsmogger: How do I initiate said light test? I tried the *08, even though I knew it wouldn't work.. heh - Sadly my Merlin Legend experience doesn't transfer over.. :/

Handset on hook, press and hold the # for 5 seconds, keep the # down and lift the handset off the hook. The phone rings, all led's light, and the display shows all pixels. Hang up the handset before you go crazy.

hey whadda-ya know!

I have two seperate MLS-18D's, both with bad MWI's. I tested with a different MLS-12, and the light was already on when I plugged the phone in. :)

Now I know how to test for the future..

Thanks for the knowledge!
