Howdy,

I am a Definity tech, and I have a Partner ACS R 1.0.1 C01 which I have been tasked with upgrading. I bought an R 6 upgrade card from e-bay and found that it had apparently been previously used and would not upgrade the system.

A old co-worker said that R1.0.1 could not be upgraded. I have seen conflicting opinions.

Is there a definitive answer? Can an R 1.0.1 be upgraded?

Is there any way to salvage this upgrade card I bought?

Hi definityadmin,
Since you had conflicting opinions, I'll throw my hat in with exsmogger here. He is absolutely right on all counts.
Don't forget to give the ebay seller a bad report. Better yet, get your money back and buy a real new R6 upgrade card.

Thanks for the information. The card was listed as a new card, but it looked like the cardboard envelope had been re-sealed.

At one time I had access to some of the refresh apps for the cards, but everything I have now is Definity-based or Merlin Legend/Magix.

This system really doesn't need to be R6. It needs the R2/R3 caller-ID logging features and it would be helpful if I could dial into it rather than visiting on-site if it needs programming work.

Local dealers don't have any unused R3 cards around. Has anyone got a line on an unused R3 card?

Hi definityadmin,
Is the ebay vendor going to help you?

You need minimum R3 to get the remote admin modem. Look at the difference in price between what you are offered and a new card from a dealer (current rev).

The vendor refunded the entire cost including shipping back to them. They handled it very well.

The resources to spend $300+ for an R6 card don't presently exist, plus they don't need the R6 features, so I am trying to find an option that is a bit more affordable to present.

If anyone happenes to know of an unused R3 card laying around, let me know.

I will have to check that out. They gave me a limit of $100, so that may still be out of range. They won't EVER be installing a T1 card or anything fancy, so if I could find a good card for R3 or R4 I would rather set them up that way.

Hey EXSMOGGER!

Do you guys ever do trades? I just went over to finish the installation of the system, and they have two extra cards.

400EC R3.1
200E R3.1

Both are working, but since they only have 4 lines and have no plans of expanding, they don't need them. I have them sitting here beside me.

They would trade both for an R3 (preferred), R4, R5 or R6 upgrade/remote access/backup/restore card.
