Auto Attendant 1 answers with an announcement that offers 4 options; 1 for sales, 2 for parts, 3 for service and 5 for all other calls.
Selector Code 1 rings on group 1's extensions. (no problem there)
I would like 2 and 5 to have their own greetings asking the caller to leave a message and then have that message record on ext 10's mailbox ( but not ring on ext 10.)
I would like 3 to give a greeting with 3 more options, the first 2 will be greetings and when completed give the caller the option of repeating that greeting or leaving a message also on ext 10's mailbox. The 3rd should be a greeting asking the caller to leave a message. (also recording on ext 10's mailbox)

I thought I might have to create phantom mailboxes but now I'm question that.

Have 2 and 5 go to phantom mailboxes that each have a phantom destination of mailbox 10.

3 send to a submenu. For options 1 and 2 in the submenu, have them each go to a different mailbox, that each has their phantom destination set to mailbox 10. While listening to a voicemail greeting, pressing *# will repeat. Leave some dead air at the end, so that if they decide to replay the greeting, they haven't already passed the beep and are in the recording mode. For option 3 in the submenu, use mailbox transfer to mailbox 10 (or go to still another phantom mailbox with its phantom destination set to 10)

I've got option 2 going to phantom mailbox 42 and 5 to 45 and they are covered by ext 10's mailbox.

I am having a little trouble programming the sub menus. I set Selector code 3 to sub menu 1 but I am not able to program a greeting for the sub menus or make more than one active. Can you take me through programming selector code 3 with 3 sub menus? Thanks

The submenu must exist before you can point a selector code in the auto attendant to it.

Also, create your phantom mailboxes and set their phantom destinations before creating the submen.

Now, log into the system admin mailbox, 9 for programming, 3 for auto attendants, 1 for AA#1, 3 for submenus, and just to keep things logical, since you're going to use selector code 3 in the auto attendant to go to the submenu, let's create submenu number 3. So press 3# for submenu 3, and press 9 to create it. Now press 6 to modify it, and just like in the auto attendant, you can define selector codes 1, 2, and 3 to be mailbox transfers to the specific mailboxes. When finished with selector code assignments, press *#, and 1 to record the greeting, 1 again at the end, and *# to approve the greeting and the selector code assignments.

Now you can go back to auto attendant #1 and set selector code 3 to point to submenu 3.

Is it possible to transfer a caller to a sub menu or an announcement?

A live call on a phone to a submenu or announcement? No, but you can transfer to an auto attendant.

Lets say you are are on a call and the caller asks for drections, is there any way to send the call to recording that would provide a precoded et directins?

You could put the directions in a simple mailbox, or you could assign an extension to the automated attendant, tell the caller that you are going to transfer them and tell them to press X to hear the directions.

In the Messaging, pick an extension from 10 through 57, select option 3 for auto attendant, pick the AA from 1 to 4, and set it to WITHOUT a phone. In the ACS, assign #310 to the extension number.
