Can someone please tell me how to partition a hard drive and get it to have win 95 on one side and xp on the other?

First off, is it a fresh HD or an old one? If its fresh (new) its pretty straight forward but if its allready being used as a boot drive, well...... the partition has to be deleted and the setup again

So is it a new HD????

I would use fdisk and make 2 partitions. The one for XP must be quite a bit larger than for 95. XP probably likes 2-3 Gigs of space to work right. I would recommend at least 5 Gig Partition for XP.

What you want to do is to try to install 95 First. Then you want to install xp. XP should have some options you can use for installing 2 operating systems and XP has a boot loader. I recommend you go to the XP Forum for better instructions. This is more of a operating system issue than a hardware issue.

I would recommend you use Win95 VerB with Fat32 Support because XP can probably manage Fat32 Better than Fat16. This enables partitions to be larger also.

Some products like partition magic might be able to resize partitions without destroying your file system.

I would not do this. I recommend using 2 hard dirves. One with Windows 95 and one with windows XP. 95 can not read NTFS, but XP can read Fat32.
