Parameter - Set default values - Some fields missing

Hi All, I'm using Crytal Reports v.9. I would like to create a parameter and want to set default values. The table I will use contains 150 fields, however, the Browse Field drop down only shows 22 fields. Is there a way to fix this so that it'll show all 150 fields? Do you want to show 150 fields, or 150 different VALUES of the same field?

Very few tables have 150 different fields. If you had an item table with the fields Item, Description, and Cost, then there are 3 fields, even if there are a million part numbers. Are we on the same page?

I don't think you understand me, or my last question.

Crystal does not browse more than 1 field at a time when setting default values for a parameter. It only browses the VALUES of the SINGLE FIELD you tell it to browse.

If you are not seeing all the values of the single field, this is a registry setting in Crystal v9. Search theregistry for MaxNBrowseValues, and set this number high enough so that every single value will be found.

I thought maybe SCham really meant fields, not field values, although this would be a remarkably high number of fields. I wonder whether (like the field values that are limited by a registry setting) the number of fields displayed for browsing might be limited, too, although I don't know this for a fact.

One comment--only the fields of the same datatype as the parameter will be displayed in the browse area.

Sorry, I wasn't able to respond to your inquiries because I'm not working on Saturdays and Sundays.

I really meant fields, not the values. I already encountered a problem on the limit of displaying a number of field values in the parameter set default values. I was able to fix that through editing the windows registry.

For the fields which are missing in the set default values, I don't know if it is the Windows registry that needs to be modified or something else. If it would be the windows registry, then which part of it?

Lbass, you mentioned that only the fields of the same datatype as the parameter will be displayed in the browse area. The field, called Status (of Numeric datatype in Contract table), is the 90th field in the table. It has values: 0 - Open Contracts, 1 - Closed Contracts, ..., etc.


I hope there's a way to fix this problem. I would greatly appreciate all your help.

All I meant was that if you are using a string parameter, only the string fields in the table will appear in the browse list. Your field appears to be a string, and so should appear if your parameter is a string. To confirm the datatype, right click on the field in the report->browse and note the datatype listed at the top. I don't know how to solve the problem of missing fields, however.
