Parameter filtering based on another parameter

How would you filter a parameter based on another parameter?

For example - say we want to see a list of transactions made by a customer for a particular day.
Thus we have two parameters: a date, and a customer.

When the user selects the date, I want to be able to filter the choices for the second parameter to only show customers that had transactions on the date selected (instead of showing all customers in the database).

Our reports get particularly tricky when we require 3 or more parameters (because we then have to look up to see which values will actually generate a report).

Can someone tell me how to do this kind filtering?

We are using CR 8.

I don't think you can do that in CR, but you could use a VB interface...

mmaz,

That was what I figured. I was hoping I could do that using CR (for convenience more than anything else), but if it has to be, it has to be. Thanks

When I create parameter field On Set Default Values
I choose the Browse Table drop-down list to link to a table
and I specify a default field from this table(Ex:Doors).
I select all values from this field.(ex:DoorsNames)
If I am doing a modification in this table (I am Adding a new Door)when I run the report this new door does not appear in the parameter field. Why is not updated?
The link is properly done. What I have to do?

Crystal is limited to static Parameter value lists.

My "DataLink Viewer" utility adds the ability to have Dynamic parameters as well as the ability to filter the values in one parameter based on another parameter (cascading parameters):

Cheers,
- Ido

CUT, Visual CUT, and DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
