Please help, I have to create a template for the binder.
There is going to be 2 text boxes on each page with different paragraph styles. The problem I have is as follows: I've created 2 text boxes on the master page each having different paragraph style. When I import the text to these boxes on the regular page the paragraph styles are different from the one from the MAster page. To make the styles the same as on the Master I have to click each box and apply my custom styles again. Is there any trick to automate this process.
Thanks

I'm not sure I follow... when you place the text, is it autoflowing into the two text boxes on each page? If so, you cannot expect them to follow different styles.

Perhaps the reason no-one replied to your first post is because it is not clear what you are doing.

So - to clarify - you have set up a master page with 2 textboxes. You have assigned different para styles to each of the MP textboxes.

Then you go to the document pages and then what? Presumably File>Place and browse your text file?

Hi, thanks for reply.
After I place text in this 2 boxes (not text flow), (FILE-PLACE-text from the file)the text boxes don't keep the paragraph style from the master page. I still have to click each box(after placing text) and assign the costum styles to each of them individualy.
Thanks again.

I tried to do it the way you were trying to do it and it didn't work for me either. So perhaps it's not possible?

I don't believe it's possible...I've never gotten it to work. If I need something to come into a master page text frame with a certain style, I set the style as my default text and everything I place comes in in the default style. It's a pain if you've got more than one style on the master page...you have to go through and import all of style 1, then change your default and import style 2, etc.

If you're using CS2, you have more control over how text looks if you copy and paste (as an alternate to placing). So, if you've set up a style on a master page text frame and copy the text, you can paste it into that frame and it will have the style applied. Set the preference in Preferences > Type under When Pasting Text and Tables...(bottom of dialog box)...choose Text Only. The text will take the paragraph formatting. Alternately, if you have the Styles option checked, you can override that option by choosing Paste Without Formatting under the Edit menu. Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot everybody. I gues Quark sometimes works better. Thanks Again!!
