I have a customer that has a Legend 6.0 with a Paradyne 3150 to a DS1 card. The Paradyne has a fail light on and the yellow light is on the ds1 card. The buttons on the paradyne do not do anything and restarting it has no effect. In the past I was able to restart it to clear any errors. I Know nothing of this unit at all. There were only a few in this area to begin with and they have all been replaced except this one. Any help is appreciated.

Is the DS1 in service? What does the display show?

If it shows a network alarm and it is suppose to be working, you might want to get the circuit ID of the DS1 and open a trouble ticket with the service provider to fix the problem.

If it is a full t1 and all for voice you can eliminate the 3150 and run staight to the merlin.

I thought on older DS1 cards you had to use the external CSU and that the newer ones were only supported by 7.1 processors.

you dont need the CSU to make it work. it is some kind of law that there needs to be one but for testing it will work without it. It gives you a place to start troubleshooting. I have seen a lot of sites run without them forever.

If you disconnect the T1 module from the CSU/DSU - and connect directly - you will most likely need to change your cable to a T1 Cross-over cable.
