Paradox 9 "locked database"

I've never had problems with linking a Paradox table to a Wordperfect table until yesterday. The only thing that's changed is XP critical updates and the installation of SP2. The error message (a definition of which I've been unable to find) is ImportDolmport. Later, the program said the database was locked.

I'm logged on as the Administrator in WP Pro. There are no locks enabled on any of my paradox databases and I'm not working on a network. I even enabled the database file folder as "shared." I've used Pdox since 3.5 (which I loved) and have never had a serious problem like this.

Corel refuses to respond, saying this version is no longer supported. I've purchased WP Office X in a version which includes Paradox, but am uncertain if the new version will work either. What on earth is going on?

For no good reason, I was able to create a link between the WordPerfect table document and the database a short time ago. No error message stating the database was locked, etc. came up this time. There is no good reason for this to have occurred, not that I'm not grateful. I had gone to the Paradox directory to verify that there were no .lck files (there weren't) prior to being able to create the link.

This will have to be one of those "mysteries" I guess.

This just happens from time to time. Pressing F4 or F5 will release the table until you try whatever you want to do, then it will lock again as soon as you make your move. Some things just put the program's knickers in a knot. The solution to this is usually shutting it down and restarting.
