Hello,
I'm currently developping a database which has some fields containing chinese characters.
To be able to see these characters, I have to set the language driver of the table to "paradox china 136". But I didn't yet changed the BdE configuration (setting the Paradox driver to Paradox China 936 and the Configuration/System/INIT/Langdriver also to Paradox China 936) because I'm not quite sure of the effect of such change.
I need to do something, because some querys aren't stable (when I retreive all the fields of a table having Chinese characters in it (by doing a global check without specifying any criteria), the query works sometime and sometime it causes a Unexpected key violation error???).
Can someone explain me what changes I should do?
Thanks

DamsHK,

Don't forget that you can save BDE settings to different .CFG files. this means you can create a CFG file that sets the default language driver for Paradox tables (which you'll need to do because queries create Answer tables that use the default language driver).

Use the -o switch to start Paradox with a different language driver. See for an overview.

Also, you may find helpful.
Hope this helps...

Footpad,
Thank you for your response. I read on another thread that you knew quite a lot about Paradox dealing with international characters, that's a chance for me!
I have set the language driver of the BdE to China. Now, Do I have to set the language driver of all the table to China or just the ones that contains Chinese character??
Thanks,

DamsHK,

You'd only need to change the driver for the table that contains the actual characters. The reason you change the default is for queries against that table. This will keep those characters from being translated in Answer tables and the like.

Hope this helps...
