Personally I've never felt the need to go beyond 7. There just wasn't anything compelling (to me) added in later versions. I just keep the BDE up to date.

I installed Paradox 10 with Paradox 8. (It was an oem version bought with a token system, so not very expensive.) The problems it caused were so myriad that I have since removed it from my system with much difficulty. While I did get it to work for a while I didn't notice much in the way of day to day improvements over Paradox 8, although I believe there are some advances if you wish to publish programs exclusivelly to the the web.
For some time after removing it from my system I needed to reinstall other database programs, as P10 seems to have co opted one or more drivers or compromised them. There were a few serious scares involved, but all is well now.
P10 will not run will without service pack 2, which, although an apparently less current version is available on the web, should be ordered immediately on cd if you purchase the package.
Corel has some user conferences, which they have just recentlyl begun to moderate. If they haven't pulled all of the sighs of dismay and urgent cries for help from P10 users, you might get a better idea of the problems still associated with the new version by leafing through the postings.
Since it can't be purchased without the rest of the 2002 Suite, it's quite expensive, and, like the rest of the suite, quite bulky. My take is obviously that you probably don't want to deal with it, but then I am not a whiz.
If you do decide to upgrade be sure to first of all uninstall any current Paradox you have running. If you do not, attempts to uninstall either version either from the control panel or by the included uninstall program will fail. In this case do not panic and race to the registry, as many have done. Just use your installation cd to effect the process.
