While working with the Academic Version of WordPerfect Office 2002 (10) and the included Paradox 10 (after installing SP1 from Corel Website), I encountered the following errors:
1. While trying to do a mail merge of a Paradox table in WordPerfect, I got the error message "Can not find driver" while trying to specify the Paradox database file within the Merge. Appears to happen if Paradox is open while setting up the Merge.
2. When accessing a database application with Paradox 9 that was setup with Paradox 10, got "invalid file access" when opening any FORMS file. Reports and tables appear to work, but unable to use FORMS setup in Paradox 10. This happened while trying to revert back to Paradox 9 since I could not get Merge to work correctly with Word Perfect 10 (see item 1).
3. Using the RESET FIELDS button while creating a REPORT (using data model) repeatidly causes "ACCESS VIOLATION" for Windows 2000 (have SP2 & all updates) and ends Paradox.
I am rusty as I have not used Paradox for a while, but these are items that I have made a list of to contact Corel after I have done more testing and development.
I have tested Merge with WordPerfect 2000 & 2002 (you have to use your Paradox data somewhere, and somewhere is often merge mailings), and have confirmed a data access problem with 2002.
If Paradox 10 is open when trying to access the Paradox data (GoToData button etc. in WordPerfect 2002), then you get a "Wordperfect - can not load driver" error message. Close Paradox and the problem disappears. This situation does NOT happen with WordPerfect Office 2000/Version 9 software as you can have Paradox 9 running while doing a MERGE (work with the database while testing).
The Merge dialog is much nicer in 2002, and easier to use. I have since reinstalled my WPO2000 as it was a little premature to uninstall it. I am using WPO2002 though whenever possible as the interface is tweeked up a bit nicer. I am putting this problem down to an early adoption headache that will hopefully fixed soon.
