I have a four page mail-merge document that I will be printing to an HP 8150 printer with four paper trays. I need to be able to print page 1 of the document from Tray 1; page 2 from tray 2; then page 3 and 4 from tray 3 followed by page 5 from tray 4. The process is then to start again from the beginning.

Any ideas how this can be done? Can it be controlled from within Word, or do I need to have this programmed in some way?

(I have tried every concept I can think of, and HP could offer no worthwhile suggestions)

Hello,

Are you familiar with the general concept of sections in a Word document? Sections allow you to modify such parameters as paper tray, paper size, paper orientation, contents of headers and footers...

How you do it:

In you main mailmerge document, replace all page breaks with section breaks (insert menu, breaks, section break next page). In the document you describe, you shoud end with five pages separated by a total of 4 section breaks.

Clic anywhere on the first page, then go to the File, page setup menu, paper, then select the appropriate tray from the list (tray 1). Notice the option in the lower right corner says: apply to current section...

Clic anywhere on the second page, then go to the File, page setup menu, paper, then select the appropriate tray from the list (tray 2).

Do the same to the next three sections...

When you perform your mailmerge, Word will take into account you tray selection.

Enjoy!
