Just posted a new question about ports to service groups.

I also have a need to join these 2 systems sitting at 2 different sites.

A VPN is already in place and is functioning fine. I can ping from one subnet to the other. Can log in to PBX's from either site, etc....

We have overlapping extensions at both sites, so I need to use the PBX code method.

In all of the documentation I've found there are constant references a unique PBX code, but never where to find it. Is it somehting that's established in some other part of setup? Did I just not read far enough through the documentation? Is in an arbitrarily assigned number?

I think I saw something about a 7 digit number stumbling around in the PBX console. Surely users wouldn't have to enter in a 7 digit code to xfer a call from one site to another.

I dont like the pbx code option. I would make the 2 systems 4 digits so you can have 2xxx and 1xxx and setup system using number plan to route calls. then if they have 101 in each site one will be 1101 and the other will be 2101

There would be much weeping and gnashing of teeth if I told everyone their extensions were changing...even if it were as simple as adding a leading number to their existing extension.

If I had to go the PBX code option, do you know anything about setup?

if you use other pbx code they will have to dial that number in front of the extension to call across the link.

lead number is the preferred method so tell them it has to be done that way for ease of use in. things like call forward or transferring calls across the systems. after a week they wont even remember the old way. and for you to setup it is as easy as changing the lead number in system number plan from 1 to 21 or 11. it will change all the extensions

I appreciate your help with both my threads...even if I do go teh preferred method of direct extension, I'd still like to know where to find and/or establish a PBX code. Seems like an elusive thing to find.

I had read through that manual and couldn't tell whether or not the PBX code was an arbitrarily set number, if it had to follow a pattern, if it was preset, etc..it's a 3 digit code, and I assume it can be any 3 digit unique code. I dunno.
Anyway, trying to take your advice and go without the PBX code and just change teh numbering plan. I'm having one issue. The VM extension as set on a DLC8 card needs to be changed. it's currently 309, want to change it to 3109. I thought all I had to do was take the port OUS and change the extension (then change the VPS extension in the TDA50 console). taking the port OUS doesn't allow me to change it, taking the entire card OUS doesn't allow it - still greyed out. What am I missing?

you will have to take it out of service and then change the port from being VM to normal. you will be able to change the number then. put it back as vm.

you will also have to change the voicemail number plan in the tvm.

to use other system number you can use 1 digit pbx number then in the virtual gateway card you put the pbx number in front of the extension lead number for number to ip translation

Was taken off this project for a while, back on now.
When programming for the extension number method, I'm still required to provide a PBX code....again I don't know if this is similar to a serial number, in that every single PBX made by panasonic has unique PBX code, or if this is an arbitrarily assigned number. There's a box in "TIE table" titled "own pbx code (7 digits)" - this is the only thing I've found related to a PBX code..Do I just assign any number I feel like here? does it need to be a full 7 random digits? less?

Oh, I also get "card obstacle" when trying to INS the gateway ports> E033102

nevermind about the card obstacle, I hadn't activated the IP gateways

I simply cannot get any communication going at all...I've tried going through the section you listed above again and again and again...I've also tried the PBX code method just to see ti work at all...the best I can get is dialing the TIE line number (7 - default I believe), PBX code (arbitrarily assigned), then "line not assigned" - I could only get to "reorder tone" trying through the extension method....

I am 100% lost
