Any advice or help appreciated on this. Our customer is changing their Avaya IP phone system over to a TDE600 . They currently have about a dozen Spectralink 8440 handsets with
wi-fi around the building that is working perfectly. They have a large investment in the Spectralink phones and related hardware so I am trying to help them reuse the equip. I have purchased a SIP extension license and installed the SIP EXT32 in the virtual slot. Will the Spectralink phones work as a SIP extension on the TDE600 and is there something I need before I proceed.

Thanks in advance

Harry

Did Simple Set-Up option using utility tool for Spectralink . Maybe more specific settings are required . Port 5060 is being used . Should it matter if there are two networks ? One for wi-fi and another for the PBX? Wifi is using --.--.21.65 and the panasonic uses --.--. 20.72 . Anyway its still not working. Maybe they just are not compatible ?

It will make a difference if the wifi is on an different subnet and can’t talk to the system

What is the subnet mask on the wifi

They are sip so should have no problem connecting

Can you setup an standard access point on the same subnet as the system on the same switch

Or get a sip soft phone on your laptop like xlite and try connecting from the wifi

The Spectralink should work on the TDE series PBX (SIP license should support third party devices)
tested on NS500

Thanks - I 'll ask the IT guy about the subnets when I see him on Monday . Thanks

We set up a SIP extension on cell phone using Zoiper similar to xlite. The sip extension works fine. Communicates perfectly with the Panasonic TDE600. We know its not the Panasonic.

We followed Spectralink techs instructions as well as spectralink step by step online instructions. Handsets show full strength from AP's . Provisioning on handset appears correct.

As soon as we enter SIP info such as extension , password etc and SAVE the Spectralink goes bonkers. Says low bandwidth - keeps rebooting by itself - no AP signal.

I spoke to their IT and asked if we could put Panasonic & WIFI on same subnet and he responded absolutely not. I have not asked him why not as of yet.

The AP's were installed 3 years ago and all 12 Spectralink handsets worked on an Avaya Media Gateway 700. The Avaya was replaced by the TDE600

and the network switches and related equipment were replaced by the new IT vendor. AP's around the facility remained the same . If I took a handset to my house and created a local

network would it work on my home wi-fi for testing purposes ?

The TDE doesn’t have a media relay in it, that only came out on the NS. Could be it needs to be treated as a external connection and use the media relay. When you check the sip app were you on the same subnet as the system or on the wifi

Can you put in a temp access point that is on the same subnet to test.

The phone shouldn’t go bonkers either way

Hi OB - Well I am still struggling. Ready to give up and find something else to use. I have a SIP guy trying himself and he is having trouble too.

He asked if I know the firmware and hardware version of a spectralink 8440 that DOES work with the Panasonic TDE600 or TDE200 . Maybe the newer firmware will not work .

We cant get 4.12 or 5.6 to work. In addition some 8440 's I saw online have SYNC and some dont. He says that has nothing to do with this issue.

He is leaning toward the AP's being the issue but has not been able to confirm yet. He did put AP and system on same subnet but still crashes the Spectralink.

I don’t see compatibility with the system (sip is industry standard) would crash the phones

There must be some setting that is clashing in the phone

If you put the settings in a phone off site with no access to the system is it still crashing

Hi OB - We finally got the handsets to work ! There were two issues. The primary issue was the AP's were not configured properly. The IT guy made a few changes in his configuration and that was the key. Only 4 handsets worked and they were version 5.6 . The remaining 8 handsets were 4.4 and didnt work. We will upgrade the firmware and should be good to go.

Anyway just wanted to thank you for your time and input !

Harry

Hey, thats great news and thanks for sharing the information about firmware on the handset
Will help someone else in the future
Bet you will be glad to put that behind you.
