Panasonic TDA100D - Upgrade to v5.2 - 32MB SD Card too small for the new files

Hotel has this TDA100D. I added more extensions for new rooms they built. They have always wanted the extra Hotel features to work and it's been a pain to say the least since I started down the rocky road to functionality. The original install of the system was pretty bad and done by some guys that disappeared as soon as they got paid.

First I see in fine print "A 6 line LCD PT is required for the Hospitality features to work" No 300 series available in this country. A 546 model will take 60 days. I just go online and order one from the U.S. for shipment here. I seriously thought about ordering a used 300 series phone and wish I would have now, because of the upgrades required to make this 500 series PT even function.

Anyway in a nutshell I was committed to the 546 PT it was paid for and on the way. I come across this thread thread936-1755639 read it 20 times, and download the files I'll need. I come equipped with an 8gig SD card that I think will just plug in and work. It doesn't, so I waste a few hours trying to make it work. 2GB partition/FAT16 - NO... 32MB partition/FAT12 - NO... I get bored with that so I just decide to use the little 32MB card that's already installed. I try to copy the new files for the v8.x upgrade and find that the folders and files a just about a MB bigger than I can fit onto this SD card. I try copying the v5.2 files and get the same error. Not many options at this point. After looking around in the various manuals I read that ONLY a Panasonic SD card will work. Thanks Panasonic.

The idea of telling this customer MORE delays are necessary and MORE money must be spent is making me nauseous. I won't bother asking the obvious. Why would the files comprising a software/firmware upgrade be compiled so that they are too big to fit onto the standard sized storage device in the system they are intended to upgrade?

Any ideas or help greatly appreciated. Really hoping that one of you guys will jump on here right away and point out that I am doing something wrong and I must be an idiot. OK with me if it helps me finish this job...

Anybody??? Does anyone happen to know what Panasonic does to their SD cards so that they work with the system? I could clone their card using a DOS utility, but then I would only have another 32MB card with the same problem.

all the files are about 10-15 meg. it wont read a 8gig card.

you have to remove the old files and upgrade the system file to v8.

you may need to re-license the system if in the USA

If you are not sure what is needed you should get someone in who does as this card runs the whole system and you could end up with a defaulted system or not working if the system needs licensed Panasonic engineer to re license it

Thanks for the reply and info. Makes perfect sense that the files would only be 10-15M. I guess I need to find a better source for these files. The files I downloaded from the other thread are 33meg. Maybe the OP included all of the files on the card not just the files for the upgrades. Any suggestions for a source?

System in the Philippines. Was bought used and never had any license files. Will the upgrade reset the system back to where it looks for a license?

Panasonic not much help in this country. The main dealer was all set to sell me a 546 phone and when I asked about v8 upgrade and v5.2 upgrade for tda-100D they had no idea what I was talking about.

There are no upgrade files as such you need the private folder in full with v8
You will also need card card firmware for the digital card. Maybe he Sent you all the files not to be loaded straight on to Sd card

I have used all sorts of capacity SD cards and never had any issues, the hard part was trying to find a low capacity (128meg) SD card

I think I have used 1,4 and 8 gig cards in the past
