Hi,

We have a Panasonic KX-NCP500XNE with a VoIP DSP4 card and activation key.

Right now we use analog phones and also an analog phone line to call outside/recevice calls.

We want to keep the analog phones but switch to VoIP (using the PBX) to call outside and receive calls. Is this possible? When we bought the PBX the reseller said it is possible but now another reseller tells us this is not possible.

We are confused! Can someone clarify this? Are there manuals for setting this up?

Thanks!

Regards,

Frank

If you have a dsp card you can have voip trunks with analogue line and extension installed already.

Thank you for your response. Can I check the presence of the DSP card in the Panasonic software (I have installer access to this software)?
Are there any manuals for programming this PBX and DSP card?
Regards,
Frank

Config - Slot

Move mouse over the IPCMPR card and select card property you can check there for DSP type

Also in config - slot

Go to activation key to see what licences are installed

Looking at the slot we are good to go!? (see attachment)
Checked activation keys and we have 4 IP trunks activated.
Next question is how to setup voip trunks. We want to stop ISDN lines and go to IP lines.
Any suggestions? Any manuals to consult?
Our new reseller claims it is not possible and I want to explain to him it is possible and help hem set it up.
Regards,
Frank

you need to install a virtual ip trunk card and setup the sip provider, the setup for these vary depending on the provider, so check settings and register server with them. you will have to set rules on your firewall as well

That picture you uploaded only shows the card, you should check if you have sip trunk licences, The NCP dsp came with 4 trunks and 8 IP extension licences so you should be ok.

you would then set the system to pick up those lines. you will have to port your numbers to the sip provider if you want to get rid of your ISDN lines. make sure your sip trunks are working before you do this part

Dear obtsystems,

In the attachment the activation keys. Like you said, 4 trunks and 8 IP extensions. So we should be ok.

I have no clue how to setup a virtual ip trunk card. That is what I am trying to figure out! Can't find any information on the internet.

Regarding rules on our firewall (Cisco ASA), where can I find the ports to open? I noticed the DSP card has a correct IP address and gateway, so that should work. But I need to know what ports to open up for that IP address and whether it is TCP or UDP.

I would appreciate it if you can help me out there.

Kind regards,

Frank

The system and DSP card should have internal IP address, you would forward port 5060 on external to port 5060 to the main system IP only allowing the providers ip addresses in on that port to prevent hacking.

the card is just installed on the virtual slot on the system, just drag in the v-sipgw16

The rest of the setup will depend on the way the sip provider works. register or non register setup

Thanks obtsystems, this makes sense to me.

Just contacted the supplier of the VOIP trunk and he is unsure how to program it.

I found a manual on the internet "IP Networking Guide Pure IP-PBX". Is this the manual we should use?

One more question if possible. How do I make a full backup of the system so we can restore it if we have a non functional PBX.

go to utility and transfer from pbx to pc, then download the dssys file. that is the main system config file

the IP networking guide maybe for the gateway card not sip card

did they give you a user name - password or just register server with no password/username

let me check with the supplier of the voip lines what information we will get.
do you mean dbsys file when I create a backup? can't find any dssys file.

any suggestions on what manual to use for the sip card or can you guide me through it?

yes the ncp is dbsys file sorry

the installation guide has it all in it or feature guide. it is straight forward once you have the details of the provider

last question then. where can I find the installation guide? the pbx came without any documentation.
thanks!

You will have to find it on line, the manuals don't come with them, you are suppose to register with Panasonic and do at least some online training before you get support

Dear obtsystems,

I cannot find a manual online.

What I got from the provider is an IP address, login name, password and port number. Also a test phone number.

Can you explain to me how to set it up (next to the ISDN line, because this is still a live phone number) without damaging the PBX. The provider has no knowledge of Panasonic.

Kind regards,

Frank

Sorry I have being busy the last week or so and got no time to post, not sure if you got this sorted

You just have to set up the user name in name and authentication id, enter password

set the IP address they gave you in sop server location

settings for calling party should be should be header and clip

set ddi in table as normal, you will need to know number of digits they are sending or do a trace when you call in

router should have port 5060 forwarded to the system address locked down to the IP address of the provider

Dear obtsystems,

I experimented a bit and yes I had some progress. I now have a live VOIP line with the provider. Still need to set port 5060 to check if I receive incoming calls.

Will let you know when I run into any problems or when I have any questions.

Kind regards,

Frank

have you sip trunk licences? go to tools and look at error log and see what is there. the sip domain should be empty unless the ask for a domain field

Card obstacle is not due to a setting, it will be a line limit or licence issue, can you see this in activation screen
