Panasonic D816 Hybrid System questions 2

Hello everybody.

I have a Panasonic D816 Hybrid system with 2 phone lines going in it.
I also have 2 Panasonic KX-T7230X phones.
I have some problem with the whole system, so if you coled help me I would really appreciate it.

0. What does CO mean ? (the manual is full of this term, but I am not sure if it means Central Office... or anything else)
1. How do I set the INTERCOM code(the number for each phone)
2. I uderstood that this system has 2 digital lines and 6 analog ones ? (what does that exactly mean? )
3. The most difficult part for me is connectiong a normal phone to the system. I connected it but whenever I wat to dial a number one of the Panasonic phones rings (intercom) - the numbers here start with 0, so it dials intercom 0.

I am sorry if my questions sound stupid, but I really do not not how this thing works.

It's tough to answer your question if you are from a foreign country, but in the U.S. CO does stand for central office, outside lines are access by dialing 9, and you have to tell the system that you only have 2 outside lines because it hunts from the highest to the lowest.

Each jack, on a TD-816 base cabinet is 2 pair. You plug a 4 pin base cord into it to extend an analog phone (only uses the inside pair) a digital phone (only uses the outside pair) or a Panasonic Analog hybrid (like 71xx,77xx,73xx) uses both pairs.

Programming is done with a display phone plugged into Jack 01. You should be able to use a search engine and find a TD816/1232 manual. Somewhere in the 40x or 60x is the command that controls the number of lines in a system.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I have the original manuals, but I can't find a way to do what I want: to give an interior number to every phone.

My biggest problem is that I have a simple analog phone, connected to the system. I can't dial a number because the phone is always connected on INTERCOM (it is just my guess) and when i start dialing, one of the digital phones rings.
Because numbers start with 0, it dials the primary digital phone.
And on the analog simple phone I did not see a way to select a line or something like that.

try dialing a 9 (or a 0 some places in the eouro zone) for an outside line fist on your simple analog phone!

Dialing 9 worked for me. Now I can get an outside line.

I have another question regarding the D816.
Now I need to install a fax on one of the lines I have.
My setup is llike this:
1 phone line that has a DSL modem on it - line 2
1 phone line that I want to dedicate only to the fax - line 1

2 Panasonic digital telephones that came with the system (I think)
1 normal analogic telephone that also has 1 portable station
1 multifucntional HP Fax,Scanner, Copy machine...

I browsed a little bit trough the manuals but I did not saw any mentions there about the fax.

Can anyone please help me in install the fax?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Telephony it's just not my domain and I am a beginner at this stuff.

connect the fax machine to an analog ext and do a dil 1:1
to that ext.

Only iu can tell us if you have a manual. Open it up and read it.

The Direct In Lines (DIL) 1:1 feature allows incoming outside calls to be directed to a specific
extension.
When an outside line is assigned as DIL 1:1, it is necessary to assign the destination.
These programs specify the extension number for day or night mode.

@LkEErie: the manual is quite big and there is allot of knowledge there (at least for somebody who hasn't used a fax unil now). Anyway, I will have to read all that to understand some more stuff. Thanks for pointing me on the right way.

I only have printed verisions of the manuals and I can't have them with me all the time.

Is there a way to get an online verison?

On Panasonic support website I found something, but it is restricted for download.

This has drifted pretty far afield from wanting the code to enable DIL 1:1 and wanting a pdf of the documentation so you "don't have to carry the manuals around".

Why? Do you plan on working on more than one system? Can't you take the book with you and bring it back?

This is not the Pirate Tips board, but I bet for money or if you look around, you can find a set of TD manuals in pdf format.

It just makes me wonder.
