I found an earlier thread archived that dealt with this problem, but I didn't find any solution. Using a Sony Clie PEG-NR70 and changing from my old laptop (Compaq Presario 700 series, which worked fine) to my new laptop (Toshiba Satellite). I can install Palm Desktop 4.0.1 (which came with my Clie) fine, but when I try to hotsync, I get the deadly blue screen complaining about palmUSBD.sys. Tried to install an update from Sony, but can't install anything, because I can't hotsync. People suggested using Palm Desktop 4.1, but I can't find that for Sony Clie. Any suggestions? Please help!
Uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no luck...

Was it the same version of Palm desktop on the old laptop?

Yes. The problem seems to have been partially resolved by (oddly) using a different USB port on the same computer, as long as I don't install Documents to Go, which gives me the same crash screen. Any explanation? I am out of answers.

Might check and see if there are updated USB drivers for that model.
