i don't really know much about lotus, i'm just a user of it....

my notes client seems to run incredibly slow. i don't have the fastest machine in the world (500Mhz) but it takes about 2 seconds to render objects like drop down boxes.
also the network connection to my domino server takes ages as well. is there any kind of compression i can turn on to try to boost performance here?

Try the following (routinely, or as needed):

Exit Lotus Notes
Delete the Cache.dsk file from the ..../Notes/Data Directory
Launch Notes and go to the Workspace page
Right click anywhere on 'open' space (e.g. not on any icon)
Select Workspace Properties
Click the 2nd tab, then click Compact

now i'll work on increasing network performance. my connection is across a WAN so should be quite fast but less than 2Mbits/s. any tips for reducing the traffic?
