If its on an extension port, you need to showw 600 ohm on the line, to simulate a phone. This can be done with a Bogen WMT1-a. Once connected, reboot the system.
If you are using a trunk port, you need to have loop voltage on teh line or the IPO will not let the page code go out on the trunk. In this case use a UPAM.
But, no matter what way you do it, the amp can not provide loop current or the 600ohm, so you need an interface. I think I have heard of guys using the OPT port on the back..but never seen it.
if you however have a "real" paging amp with a T/R input then just connect it to the extension port, reboot and you are fine. Reboot is necessary so that the paging actually initializes the port as a paging port.
you can also just use a $0.20 470 - 650 ohm resistor (they dont make a 600) inline from radio shack. this works great to open the paging port. Works every time.

I am sure if you are using an analog extension port for the paging as the port will provide you with the power needed to do the modulation. If you use a line port you would need to get a power supply in line to provide it.
