We are trying to use a analog station port on a V1 500 to page through Bogen equipment.
The Bogen will not answer, or pick up when attempting to use the station port to call it. Bogen says it needs 60v minimum before it will respond to the IPO.

Before I buy a trunk card for the IPO and do it that way, is there a device to get the 60v that the Bogen PCMTIM requires?

The customer wants to page the overhead and the digital phones at the same time.

Thanks

Chaz

I setup a FAQ too because the question comes a lot about paging and copying a link is easier than typing :)

If I can chime with a question/answer... I had a similar issue once... I thought after Version 8.0 you cannot page both internal and external devises with a shortcode simultaneously? At least that's what tech support indicated to me.

Use a bogen Bogen WMT-1A between the extension port (set as a page port) and the page input on the paging module. It costs less than 20 bucks.
This is a standard device I use all the time when using the analog extension for paging.

Also you can page to phones and overhead speakers at same time. I set it up today with 8.1.73.

my experience is that in order to set an analog port as a paging port, you have to go offhook on the port with a buttin and then reboot the IPO.

that was a bug in one of the releases and they fixed it

greybeard is right, we recently had to do the exact same procedure

this used to be standard on the old 400 series but was only showing its ugly head in some releases on the 500 series.
Gotta love it when they bring back old bugs in new releases.
If I have issues with paging I always try it with the butt set and if that works you know that the IPO is good and it is the equipment not working with it and that can oly mean 2 things, defective or high impedance interface and you need to get the WMT1A. Never worked longer than an hour or two on any paging to get it working, at least partially, some have the problem that volume is not good or garbled etc. but at least you get some sort of noise out of it.

Moral of the story is; paging can be an adventure with IPO when reusing customer's equipment that worked fine on the legacy system, and every post above is a correct answer depending on the situation... :)

Yes, getting a busy when dialing the sort code mentioned above.
Get the busy whether its connected to the paging equipment or not

Update. And I think someone mentioned this. We were able to page using a station port, type is page port, by connecting that to the trunk port of the Bogen TIM.

Going to test the zones now.

busy signal on the IPO is given when there is no 600 ohm loop detected :)

punch down a 600 ohn resistor on the tip pair

It worked one time, now we only get one beep from the unit.

the IPO beeps once when it finds the 600 Ohm
if you can't hear anything after that through the speakers it is a problem with the hardware attached

When we use a normal phone connected to the trunk port of the Bogen, it works great every time.

I am thinking about buying the 4 port trunk card, and trying that instead of using a station port.

With the switch in the trunk position , an analog phone or trunk port going off hook will active to page, wait for the zone digits, then page. When in the P/P (Page Port) position, the second pins of the line cord must have a contact closure to active the page. In the Station position, the station ring voltage should activate the page.

If its not working, get a bigger hammer!

trunk ports provide power, if you can set it to VOX then it should work as then it will turn the power off

New trunk card in hand. Going to site to try using that instead of a station port. Thanks for all the input. Hoping we can nail it today without the need for another part.

Paging is up. Our lesson learned is to not use the station ports. It came right up once we put the new trunk card in. Thanks to all for the support.

you can't do simultaneous paging though :-( only works with a station port

if you don't need it then all good but if you do then you need to go back to it and fight with it a bit.
