Paging, Unauthorized Music

I have PBXs in two buildings connected with a tie line. Each building has a 2-digit paging code to page through the overhead PA system. Each building can page within itself and in the other building. We do not play background music through the PA system.

Someone thinks we should. We keep getting a radio station or something through the PA system. Any suggestions as to how I can find out which extension is dialing the paging code and then either putting the handset in front of a radio or doing a conference call with some source of music?

I looked for the 2-digit paging codes in our CDR with no success. I know the 4-digit access code for music-on-hold in one building, but not in the other. I don't think someone is dialing into MOH, because the music over the PA is described to me as rock music, and we're definitely not playing rock in MOH.

Any other ideas?

I have found the TN of the MUS route. How do I find the ACOD? The TNB doens't tell me much. Frustrating, since I figured this out on another PBX a couple of years ago.

PRINT THE TN OF THE MUSIC CHANNEL, IN THERE YOU WILL SEE A ROUTE AND MEMBER. TAKE THE ROUTE AND GO LD 16 DO A PRINT ON THE RDB, THEN DO A CHG ON IT AND CHANGE THE ACOD TO ANYTHING WITH A 4 DIGIT NUMBER THAT'S VACANT

Trying Perry's suggestion right now, but having trouble dialing into this remote site. RTMB must be the route and member Perry mentioned.

I can't really change the 2-digit paging code, because everyone needs to be able to page, and the code is published at the top of the phone list. Can I get CDR activity somehow on the two paging codes?

I should have mentioned the building where I'm having problems is an Option 11. The other building where I sit and there are no oproblems, is an Option 61. Not sure if there are difference in the prompts etc between the two PBXs.

Can I include the

Here's my RDB for the paging route. Can I set timers to a minimum value so it times out in short order? Can I also set it to send a CDR record when someone dials the paging access code so we can admonish the culprit?

When the music is playing over the PA, you can do a trace on that tn to find out who is doing it. Go to ld 80 and type in trac space and the tn. It will give you the tn connected to the paging tn.

Just remembered...It may be trak...One or the other will work, can't remember which.

You can change the TFD timer (Timed Forced Disconnect) on your paging route. That will stop the culprit and ensure that the paging is always available.

Is TRAK a one-time command (in other words I can't watch it live), and do I have to catch it while the PA is in use?

I'm getting a TRA100 error, and books aren't located here.

TFD on the problem PBX is 0. TFD here where I have no problem is 30.

Right - TFD 0 means there is no disconnect timer so they can stay on the trunk forever.

They're both set to 30 now, so we'll see what happens.
