Paging to analog port 1

We just installed a new Analog paging system in our building and I'd like to connect it to our Definity system. I tried connecting the phone input on the paging system to a free analog station port on a TN 793

However setting this up as a type 2500 station shows that the station is always off-hook. So of course you get busy tone when you call this station.

I tried 'change paging loudspeaker' but then I try to assign the port I get "Object type and port type inconsistent" Unfortunately I don't have an auxiliary trunk board in the system.

I do have a CO trunk board with an available port but that doesn't seem to work either.

It's just a single zone paging system.

How would I do this with a CO trunk port?

Thanks!

'Analog' port could refer to a station, CO, or AUX trunk port. What does the paging vendor recommend?

You may need a TN763 AUX Trunk board and a 909 Universal Coupler.

What thpe of PBX & Software version are you running?

Kevin

The paging vendor expects to have any regular analog telephone connected to the telephone jack on their paging panel. As soon as you pickup the phone you're paging, when you're done you hang up.

I've never figured out exactly what type of switch ours is. However 'display system-parameters customer-options' shows:
G3 Version: V9

Who is the manufacturer? What wou're describing doesn't really integrate with the PBX. If you are looking for single-user access, such as the console operator, a microphone with an on/off switch may be more appropriate.

Kevin

Paging system is a Cooper Wheelock SP40S panel.

We already have a microphone on the system, we're looking to allow paging from anywhere in the building. Hence connecting it to the phone system.

Assuming I bought 909 coupler or some other 24vdc power supply how would I go about programing the Definity to use a spare CO Trunk port?

According to the SP40 product description, the unit interfaces with a CO Trunk port (TN747). There should be voltage coming out on the TB5 Tel leads.

You would create a PBX CO Trunk Group and assign it the access code you want to use for paging. It would be configured as a loop-start trunk group.

Kevin

No voltage output TEL pins of TB5. After some looking in the manual I found this little blurb.

"Note: For telephone paging, the SP40S can connect directly into the page port of the local phone system. If a page port is inaccessible, the SP-COA (C.O. Port Adapter for the SP40S) may be used to connect the SP40S to an unused C.O. port or stand-alone telephone."

So I called the fire panel installer and said, "How come I'm not getting voltage out of the TEL pins on TB5?" to which he replied, "Oh, I forgot you need an adapter for that, I'll get it ordered and installed, no charge, that's my fault."

Thanks again for everyone's help here.
