paging space sizes 1

We have some LPARS on a 590 being defined with a maximum of 4GB RAM being allocated.

What paging space formula should be used? Is the RAM x 1.25 calculation in popular use. It has been suggested that we can get by with just 1GB, but I don't think all of the RAM will be exploited if that is enabled.

Your assumption about the 1.25 rule is correct. If you find you are actually paging on a regular basis you will need to address memory management. All the rules you may have used on a older RS/6000 do not apply on a P5 processor. A good resource is:
