All,

I have a client that is currently paging only to an overhead paging system through an Analog Trunk Port. Basically they push a Page Button, that goes to a Short Code (Dial Feature that goes out Line Group ID 5 - "Page Trunk" and then does its thing with their External Overhead Paging System (Not Sure What system they are using).

They would also like the page to go through the Phone System and Page through the Phones as well.

Is something like this even possible? I am assuming creating a standard Page Group and adding the External Page Short Code to the group would not work...

Ideas? Thanks!

This can't be done with a trunk port, you'd need to connect the paging system to an analog station port. Then simply include that analog station in your paging hunt group.

Another option may be using a SIP paging device which connects to the overhead paging system and enable 3rd party auto answer for that device. Add it to the internal paging group and call it good.

Find out what the mystery paging system actually is - there's good odds that a system that works on an analog trunk port will also work on an analog extension port.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I am guessing you also may need a 600ohm resister between IP and paging equipment to get both to work at same time.

They are using a Valcom V2006A Six Zone Page Control Module

The IPO has been screaming out for a dedicated page port for years, there is plenty of room. Hell they could ditch the Relay port in favour of it, it would see more use then :)

There is a page port, set a anlog port as type "Paging Speaker".
In fact you can define as much as analog ports as "Paging Speaker" as needed and put them in separate groups creating paging zones.

Amriddle, in regards to paging, can you take a look at my post on the General Telephone forum and provide your UK feedback? Would love to hear your take on it. Trying to figure out why British retailers use mics instead of telephone system paging. Thank you.
