Since yesterday afternoon (all of a sudden) - we cannot page. We have a Merlin Legend Sustem with an MLX-20L console, MLX-10DP and AT&T BIS-22 phones. I checked and the page system is programmed on line 808. Whether we use a handset or the speaker on any phone or the console - all we get is a clicking sound. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

I would first check to see if the paging amp has power. It's usually located by the legend but not always. There should be a red power light.

Thanks for the tip. When I got to the ampcenter - it was on "overload". Now what do I do?

Turn off the amp and disconnect the wire going to the speakers. Its probably on the common and 70v output screws. Turn the amp back on and see if the overload comes back on. If everything is ok one of the speakers is probably causing the problem. Did anybody add any speakers recently? One of the speaker wires may be shorted. All sorts of things could be the cause.

Tried your suggestion: same result - still shows overload. There is also a clicking noise on the speakers, that can be heard as long as the system is plugged in. If I unplug it - the clicks are gone. I am sure noone added speakers. Any other ideas?

Thanks for all of your help.

Try disconnecting the legend paging port from the amp. It may just be tied up. There should be a little ivory paging adapter in between the legend and the amp.

We do not have an adapter. The wires go directly into the unit. I pulled it out - still no difference. I also tried disconnecting the wires on the amp. No difference. I am thinking this thing is just plain dead. Can I buy a replacement? Is it worth it?

Thanks again for all of your help. I am done for the day - but if anyone has anymore ideas, I will try them tomorrow.

If you disconnect all cables going to the AMP and then you still have the overload.....it is a bad AMP and need to replace it or have it repaired.
