since upgrading to 4.1, there is now a tone that comes through the overhead speakers preceding the page. Anyone else experience this? This is occuring at 2 sites since upgrade.

do you use a trunk or an analog extension as paging port?

I was just trying it out here and I get the same beep when the paging starts, I am playing around with the settings to find out how to get rid of it, but so far no success.

Go to Extensions and select the analog paging extension. Set Caller ID to off.

I had a similar issue on upgrading with an earlier release.

Good luck,

I think that is normal when you use a dial page short code.

I can't get rid of it, caller ID is Off and I tried offhook station and a whole lot of other settings but the beep stays.

Is is a beep (similar to joining a conference call) or is it a touch tone (DTMF)? Maybe I misunderstood the noise.

A beep is controlled by the system and may not be adjustable. A touch tone can be turned on/off by the Caller ID setting.

Good luck,
Frank

it is a beep, the same beep you hear in the receiver when you initiate the paging. I still can't get rid of it, I must have tried every combination of settings in the system but it stays, i guess you have to live with it, or put a delay on the paging amplifier via an intermediate device that delays the voice path by 2 seconds.

I believe it is a "feature enhancement". I like it. I have gotten good feedback from customers about it. They seem to like the beep as an allert sound for people to take note of a page. With the beep there, people quickly learn to start to listen to what's coming next. I think its good.

Yes I can concur - it is a system generated beep. We recently upgraded a customers 412 from 3.2 to 4.1. Interfaced an analog station port with a Bogen Paging unit -can't remember the number but its the unit with the stacking modules - like Bogen 2000 or something. It can be programmed to interface as a LS/GS trunk or a 600ohm input which usually works when using a station port on IPO. But since the beep came along, the Bogen system wouldn't let a user then enter a touch tone to select which zone to page. Had to switch over to a trunk interface from the IPO.

Look at Short code u have to page Delet the . in telephone field see if that takes care of the beep.

my shortcode is
