Looking for some assistance with an older ACS 4.0 and squelching on the paging feature. I thought perhaps it was the 5 volt volcom horns causing it so I disconnected the RJ modular plug in the ACS and intercom *70 is still squelching pretty loud. Newly wired building with CAT 5. Any ideas? Thanks in advance as always. I was thinking of trying to DSL filters...

Are you using a paging interface? You may need a WMT-1 line matching transformer, or UPAM or UTI-1 or Valcom 2003-1.

I am coming right out of the RJ45 using 4 and 5 pin to the powered horns. Even with the RJ disconnected and I just use intercom *70 it still squelches....

Please define "squelching" - what is happening? Are you making the page through the handset or through the speakerphone?

Through the handset... It sounds like feedback very loud and gets louder

Squealing would seem to indicate that some phone has an active hands-free microphone turned on and audio is looping around.

A few thoughts....

Does the problem happen when initiating a page from all extensions, or one in particular?

If you were to unplug all phones at the processor, reconnect one at a time and test page, does the squealing return when a specific extension is reconnected?

Are the extensions in very close proximity to each other within their speaker phone volume controls cranked all the way?
