Paging in DND 1

Hi all,

I have a school that currently has a time profile from 8:30am to 3pm puts all teachers extensions in Do Not Disturb. Works great.

The problem is when the Office Admin want to do a Page All (using Dial Paging to a Hunt Group) the page does not come through to the phones during 8:30-3pm because the phones are in DND.

Can anybody suggest any workarounds for this issue?

Most schools have an overhead paging system separate from the phone system, that would work

joe2938, understood. Any workarounds to get paging working while still being able to prevent calls from reaching teachers while they are in class.

Did you try DND exception? You'll need to add the entry to each of the classroom user's DND exception list.

I have an exception of 2XXX. That should incorporate the HG 2290 (Page group) as well as all user extensions.

Do I have to put the exact extension number for HG? 2290?

You could try to use the shortcode dial emergency.
This will do the same but overrules DND.
It will create one big conference and i think it will use the speaker of the phone.

Why have the calls go on DND? What if the office needs to call a teacher's classroom. I had a school that wanted something similar. I have all calls from the auto attendant go to the teachers mailbox from 7-3:30. That way internal calls could still reach the phone.

Jinxs, the 2XXX exception allows calls from any internal extension to get through to the phone during the hours its in DND.

How did you set up the AA to send calls to the users mailbox?

Huntgroups do not make calls.

The DND exception needs to be the extn number that will be calling the phone.I suspect it may not work for group calls anyway.

you probably need to rethink your approach, as already suggested do not put the extns to DND, just ensure thy cannot be called externally during class times

Why not use Forward instead of DND?
If you forward all the class room extensions to a phone in the office then that phone will be able to call the class rooms if needed and I think you can still page them (Page doesn't follow forwards).

Of course that can't be done on the time profile, but how many calls are made direct to the class rooms outside of 8.30am to 3.00pm?
