Ok I need help,

I have a 3 location SCN 2 locations have a 412 and 1 location has a 406. I have setup POT 1 port on my 406 and my paging works great. I cannot get the paging to work on either of 412 locatons. I have Phone 8 module on one location and a Phone 16 module at the other. I am not using a UPAM at any location. The interesting enough when I try to page from an extension on the phone 8 module at the 406 location is doesn't work as well.

Software 3.1.65 on all units

My real question is can you page off of and analog extension module. If not what is different in the modules and the ports that come with the 406 base unit?

Thanks Jim

When you page what do you get, a ring no answer or a busy or what? What you have to realize is that in the IP Office world analog T+R isn't -48VDC, but arount 38-40VDC, and analog ringing voltage isn't 100VAC, but closer to 80VAC. For the first time in my life I have discovered analog incompatibilities which is oximoronic. The preferred method of paging is through a UPAM with a 48V power supply and a trunk port. If you must use a station port no power supply is needed, using dip switch 5 (I think) enable VOX DELAY, and set the VOX DELAY switch all the way counter clockwise, this seemes to help the disconnect after a page. Having said all of that, I want to know what you get when you page. You also said that you have two IP412's and one IP406. Be careful not to exceed 500 users in an SCN. That is the limit. Good luck

Acutally BigWill, you can set the analog station port to IVR on the IPOffice, which will in turn, send a disconnect clear to the UPAM. That will disconnect the page successfully everytime and you don't need to mess with VOX Delay timers. Avaya seems to final have fixed the IVR port setting on release 3.1.65

IP Office has a real issue with paging systems, especially with older amplifiers.

IP Office only checks a paging port when it does a cold start (from old Magix terminology). A merge or reboot will not matter. Thus, you must power down/power up the IP Office control unit to test any new paging settings.

IP Office requires 600 ohms at the time that the processor powers up. A Bogan UPAM will not do this according to Bogan tech support. I use a Valcom 2000 or 2001 paging adaptor.

I use a Radio Shack 600 ohm or thereabouts resistor for under a buck that I hardwire to my 2 T/R connectors between the the Valcom adaptor and IP Office station port. This is VERY necessary, but I am shaky on the underlying science.

Now for the good news. When you get the analog station port to work, you can add it to your paging group for a simultaneous page of speakers and phones.

Good luck,
Frank

WMT-1A, CONNECTED TO AN ANALOG STATION PORT. TO A HI-Z , OR AUX/RCA INPUT ON THE AMP, CAN GO THRU A MIC INPUT AS WELL, DSIRECTIOMS IN WMT-1A BOX FOR MIC CONNECT.
SET STATION PORT AS A PAGING SPEAKER. SET UP PAGING GROUPS, PHONES+PAGING PORT, OR PHONES, OR PAGING PORT, OR ALL THREE GROUPS. USE SHORT CODE FOR PAGING USING DIAL PAGING ACTION.
WORKS WITH NO UPAM, JUST THE MATCHING TRANSFORMER WMT-1A WHICH COMES WITH THE UPAM PACKAGE, ALSO AVAILABLE FROM BOGEN VIA A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER.
