How do I know which fonts are within Pagemaker and which are picked up from my Windows program? When transferring the newsletter file from one computer to another, we are finding a number of typefaces that are not loaded. It's a pain!

Fonts aren't housed with/in PageMaker, and they aren't embedded into publications. Fonts usually are stored on each individual system, so to share PM jobs without having problems with "missing" fonts you need to have the fonts used in the publication loaded onto each system.

Use the pre-flight option to get a list of fonts used in your document.

Thanks for the info ... sounds like the preflight check would give me good info. How exactly do I run that within Pagemaker? In Help, it said to check the Adobe Print Publishing Guide, but I don't have that. Can you help?

Do you have an PM ADD ONs folder? It's in there...the same folder that has AUTO BULLETS and that kind of stuff (sorry for the way vagueness but I'm not anywhere near a computer w/PM on it right now).

When I get back to work Thursday, I'll post a more specific answer.

sorry for the delay... I have Pagemaker PC

Utilities.......PlugIns......Save For Service Provider....
pre-flight (lower part of the screen)

Perhaps is this one safe solution:
Remove (temporarily) all TrueType fonts in the Windows font folder, which are not used as a standard
(like Arial, Courier..).
Load Adobe fonts by Adobe Type Manager ATM. Hopefully these are the same everywhere.
For example I had this problem:
Loaded News Gothic (TrueType) into the windows folder after Wondows installation.
Pagemaker did show correctly but did not not include this font correctly into *.EPS file.
Removed News Gothic.
Loaded News Gothic by ATM.
Then Pagemaker made correct EPS.
But the two fonts with the same name are definitely different.
Use always option "include font" for printers and EPS.
Never rely on fonts in printers or local fonts, perhaps on ATM only (and Arial...).
