Could someone tell me why Pagemaker 7 closes after I move a picture/ text on a page. Moving either by the arrow keys or the mouse the program will still shut down.

Could you provide a little more info about your system? CPU, RAM, was XP an upgrade or a clean install,

What sort of graphics and how were they placed? How was the text placed?

Have you installed the PM7.01 upgrade (free from Adobe?) When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

xp clean install
no to the upgrade
celeron 500mh
images just inserted into the page and am just wanting to move them down a little to allow better positioning of text

>images just inserted into the page

How did you insert the images? The only proper way to place an image is to use File>Place. Never copy/paste.It sounds as if you may have your images placed in-line with your text. That means that you had your text tool selected when placing your image, and it went into your text block and if that is the case, the image cannot easily be moved.

Delete the image, the having the pointer tool (arrow) selected, use File>Place to insert a the image. Now you should be able to move it freely. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Cheers for that reply will do and get back to you with effect.

My suggestion is that do not use any multimedia application on XP,as XP uses maximum resource of your computer.

The other way is that use 512 MB of RAM, 1Ghz of processor, Pentium IV and a good mother board. All your application will work without any HINDRANCE

Um a pentium IV and a 1ghz processor
Thats not right!!!

XP and PM will work just fine on a 500Mhz PC... maybe a little slow, but they will work. One caveat... make sure that you have plenty of RAM. 512M is the least I would recommend on a system using XP and with graphics apps.

Other potential causes of a crash such as that would be a hardware conflict or problem, such as video card... When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

I've been using PageMaker, PhotoShop and Illustrator (sometimes all at once) on my XP computer and they work fine - much better than with 98 which was always crashing. Yep, gotta have that memory and lots of it otherwise you will have problems.
