Hi,

Im actually a web designer and have had this problem occur on a few occasions. Nnormally i just let it slide, but im starting to get the $#!7$.

Im working on a current web design job, and have a slight problem. When the page loads, it leaves a gap down the entire right hand side of the page about the size of the scrollbar. If I simply refresh the page once its loaded then it expands that little bit more, but i dont want to have to refresh the browser each and everytime i view a page.

I've tested this out on a few computers with different versions of IE (5 & 6) and it seems that IE 6 is the one it has a problem with.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem, its really starting to get to me.

Just so you know, the page takes a LONG time to load (at least for me). If I were the user, I wouldn't have waited over 3 minutes.

I'm using IE 6.0 and it works fine for me.

Perhaps you haven't updated IE6 yet? I'm up to date and see no problems.

I have DSL but it still only took about 1/2 second to load.

took only half a second to load.

Anyway, I don't see a gap and I'm using IE6

Maybe there was something with the server. It loaded in about 3 seconds this time. (still displays fine here)

I don't see a gap either with NS6, but I see a couple of things that may cause some problems. When you are specifing table widths as a percentage of the screen, it's best to specify your column widths as a percentage also - if it has to be done at all. Mixing percentages and absolute pixel values can really confuse some browsers - and it makes them work harder then necessary to render the page. Also consider this - when using percentages, keep in mind that this is a percentage of the available screen width in pixels. If your screen res is 800x600 then web pages are going to look weird to someone who uses say, 1024x768. There's always a better way...
