Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to calculate page totals. Say I have a long pricing sheet for items on a bid, and I print the sheet... Any way to put a page total at the bottom of every sheet, and then the grand total at the very bottom.

Thanks,
Andy

well
=sum(select your total range) to do the grand total
but page totals i would say either use print preview see where the page ends then do =sum(top of the data to the end of the page) and so on for all the pages i am not aware of an easier way to do it

MS Excel, sorry..

Yea I got the grand totals and such. The probelm is figuring out where page breaks are, they have the "repeat on every page" for the top, but nothing where you can insert page totals. I just wondered if anyone came up with a method for this.

Thanks again,
Andy

Andy,

First total pages is usually a page setup - heading feature. If you're running Excel, open File/page setup Header/Footer Tab. You can also select the rows to repeat at the top of each printed page.

But WHY, put the total at the bottom of the report? Why force the user to hunt for the last page. Sure, put it there if you like, but why not ALSO plaster it right at the top! There it is! The final TOTAL! Right at the top -- even on every page. No searching for one of the most important elements of a report!

Totals at the bottom are a vestage of paper, pencil and adding machines. In face, each sheet had to have sub-totals and then, all the sub-totals has to be recorded on the last sheet and totaled.

Buba, this is the age of electronic spreadsheets! Let's see some breakout creative thinking!!!

Skip,

You are the most enthusiastic spreadsheet person I've come accross... Take that as a compliment if you'd like.

I'm more or less asking the question now for technical purposes... There may come a day when I want to use the function.

I will continue my search, thanks again everyone,
Andy

What is the purpose of a page total? Does it REALLY serve a useful function.

You could use the subtotal wizard with page breaks. That subtotals a logical group. Data/Subtotal
