I am creating a pdf from a quark document with the quark page width and height settings at 148mm (w) 210mm (h). When I convert it to a pdf the page settings seem to change slightly.

In the setup tab I have changed:
· the printer description to Adobe pdf,
· paper size to custom
· paper width to 148
· the paper height is set at automatic and I am not able to change this.

When I look in the preview tab the paper size is 148.87 mm (w) and height 209.9 (h). The document size is still showing 148mm and 210mm. I have changed the settings in Adobe so that it has the settings of 148 (w) and 210 (h). However the document size still seems to not be correct. Can anyone help?

It's nothing to worry about, all will print fine.

Its a mm V's inch conversion characteristic between Quark and Adobe.

Hi
I have only got back to working on this project and have been trying to use everyone's information but alas I am still having the same problem. I am now working on an A4 document.

I have changed the settings in Adobe so that it shows it in cms. However when I look in Quark the paper size still shows 209.9 mm x 297.04 mm instead of 210 x 297 as per document size. When I print off the quark doument and the adobe document the margins are about 6mm larger in the adobe document. Is there some kind of checklist that I could follow so that I know I am setting up my document correctly and that both version show the exact page measurements?

Adobe is changing the size becuase it goes by pixels. It changes any size you make to the nearest pixel value. Therefore if your measurement isnt exactly a certain amount of pixels then it will be changed.

For example open photo shop and create a new document 210X297 mm then go to image>image size the size has been adjusted to 209.91 X 297.04 to be exactly 595 X 842 pixels.
hope this explanation helps somewhat.
