I have an 81c I need to block general user paging on without cutting off my 2250 consoles or other trunk routes. My books keep bouncing me between loads but nothing is clear on establishing semi-restricted access. Have not dealt with route tables before.

EASYIEST THING IS TO CHANGE THE FRL IN THE ROUTE BLOCK TO MAYBE A 7 THEN CHANGE THE CONSOLE TO A 7. BUT YOU WILL NEED TO SEE HOW MANY USERS HAVE A NCOS 7. GO TO LD 81 AND DO A LST ON FEAT NCOS 7

You say NCOS? References suggest TGAR, though that hasn't accomplished anything as yet.
Thanks large, I'll give it a shot.

If you match the routes TARG with the phones TGAR then they should not be able to access the route via access code.

Match the phones TGAR with the routes TARG and they should not be able to access it.

sorry for the repeat but my computer locked and I didn't know it went through.

Now the stupid question... What's my best LD for checking the route TARG? ld56? None of the book settings for blocking have made a difference. Is this because all routes are set to "0"?

Ah yes, I see what you mean. haven't had to deal with these until now.
Thanks large.

all said, ncos works with ac codes..ie dial 9.. if your using acod, targ works better.. it's default 1 on your route..ld 21 prt rdb.. to chg it ld 16 chg rdb then x1 and then make it what you need.. since the phones default tgar 1, unless you chnaged them add a 1 to the route and all stations are blocked.. if your sets have several different responses to tgar, then on the route add 1 2 3 4 5 6, that would block all sets except tgar 7

if you would rather, you can build a menu service that requires a password to access the menu and make any key past that dial the acod.. another way is to make the page acod an eight digit number.. if it's shared, change it..

Well tgar and targ didn't have any effect, unless I've missed something. Tried a number of combinations as well. The menu/password would be too much for my users.

with the acod, you're suggesting something like "dial X and then route code" to limit access? Doesn't that change the access for the "page" key on console?

no, as long as your att is set up right.. make sure tgar/targ is turned on... here's how they work, when the phone matches the trunk, it's blocked.. without looking at your ld 86, rlb. i can't build a work around without tgar/targ.. if you want to post ld 86 prt rlb.. you may have a ncos that can be used...

if you change the acod or tgar on the page route, check the att_data to make sure the block does not block the 2250's

When they page now are they using the Route Access Code or somthing else?

Hawks,
paging now is through the access number. That's dialed by common users and preset for my ops page key. I could probably add to that code but someone would undoubtedly stumble through it at some point in the future. New CEO would NOT be happy then.

JP,
I actually tried matching a number of tgar/targ settings that should have blocked mine and a number of other sets but no dice. unfortunately I can't dial in right now so I can't up my ld86 to here. Any tips what to look for?

if you've got a ncos that's not in use that is high enough to use for paging, set up a tsc that has an frl blocking lower ncos sets. ld 87 prt ? tgar is not turned on in your switch.. don't have my books and i'm off work so i can't sneak up on it, i usually just prt all the places it could hide until i get luckey
