Hey folks.

I just started using Pagemaker and I've run accross a curios problem. I started a layout and decided to print it to a pdf document to show some friends (I also brought the pagemaker source file with me... can't remember the file extension...).

Anyhoo, after showing the pdf to my friends, we decided to edit the layout. I opened pagemaker, and attempted to edit the text. Surprise! Pagemaker no longer allows me to select the text to edit it (or any of the images, either). It's as though the entire file is "locked" from editing.

I tried opening the file on the computer it created on, and the same problem exists. Any comments?

Are you saying you tried to edit the PDF you made from the PM file, or the PM file itself?

PM cannot edit PDFs.

You will need to go back to the original PM file, make your changes, then remake the PDF.

No, no... I'm talking about the pagemaker source file. I can open it, but I can't edit anything on it. I can add new text, but it just kind of goes right over the existing stuff.

Hi, roydean,

Sounds like you have text showing through from a master page.

Check the master page associated with the "problem" page.

Yup, that was it. Although I swear that I attempted to edit the master and couldn't do so....

This weekend I tried it again and had no problems. Go figure. Thanks people.
