For the past few years I have been having a problem with packet floods on my IP Office network port. I have replaced the IP Office control unit several times. I also replaced Cisco switches. No fix was found. I setup a port mirror and began network level packet logging and logging Monitor. Finally I caught the storm and saw 1 pc sending the same packet many times and getting bad Checksum results at a network level. Also I saw the same line repeating in Monitor – of an old call that was long gone. The traffic was passing only from the PC to the IP Office Control unit.
I now assumes the traffic was not voice but instead must be coming from the Phone Manager software. On a hunch I went to the PC and kill Phone Manager. The packet flood stopped immediately. For now I am upgrading my Phone Manager installations to the latest version USER 4.2.48.
Has anyone else seen an issue like this? I am running ADMIN7.0.36. I also have a VM pro unit. This problem has plagued me for years – but do to being overworks.. I have not had time to analyze this properly.
